Textiles from bamboo - How does it work?

Dass aus Holz Papier hergestellt wird, ist hinlänglich bekannt. Dass Holz auch Ausgangsmaterial für Textilien ist, hingegen weniger. In beiden Fällen steht am Beginn das Aufschließen und Zerfasern von Holz. Holz besteht zu rund 50 Prozent aus Zellulose, zu 30 Prozent aus Lignin und zu 20 Prozent aus Hemizellulose. Mit Hilfe von Chemikalien kann es in seine Einzelbestandteile zerlegt werden. Während zur Papierherstellung Zellulose und Hemizellulose genutzt werden, zieht man zur Herstellung von Textilfasern und Bekleidungsstoffen ausschließlich die Zellulose heran.

Tencel ist einfach der Markenname der österreichischen Firma Lenzing AG für den Faserstoff Lyocell. Findest du im Handel also ein Kleidungsstück mit der Auszeichnung „Tencel“, besteht es also aus der Lyocellfaser. EcoVero ist die neuste Entwicklung von Lenzing. Diese ist noch Umweltfreundlicher bei der Entwicklung. Vor allem kommen da die Fasern aus Mischwäldern in Europa.
